Lighthouse Deli/Cafe

February 15th, 2009UncategorizedNot too far from the Korean Bell of Friendship in San Pedro is a neighborhood joint with great breakfast.
The Lighthouse Deli has breakfast favorites and some specials of their own. The Popeye Special is an egg dish with spinach served on top of english muffins. Enough protein and iron to keep you going for your day. The chicken fried steak was also a hit at our table with some extra gravy on the side.
It’s not all heavy dishes though. There are a range of fresh made smoothies and plenty of vegetarian options. The crowd is very local, but friendly to anyone who shows up.
Make a morning in San Pedro with some breakfast and some (friendship) bell.

I need to explore more of San Pedro–even when I lived in Long Beach, I never got over there all that much.
The place I really want to try is the Whale & Ale pub. I’ve heard great things about it, not only for the beer selection, but their menu looks very good and actually has lots of traditional English pub dishes, unlike most places that claim to and have just fish & chips. Take a look at the menu:

Whale and Ale looks like a good spot, I’ll have to check it out. There are also some Croatian spots I want to try. San Pedro is the center of Croatian Culture in Los Angeles. I have heard some good things about Antes.
